Aluminum in Electrical Industry

May 21, 2018

Aluminum represents a lighter and less expensive alternative thanks to one of its important properties: it conducts heat perfectly. Aluminum heat exchangers have  unique features that make it ideal. That's why layers of foil inside a heat exchanger have become so important in the production of heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC) and (R) refrigeration appliances.

The trend is clear, industrial customers of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and market cooling, are using aluminum in their transfer applications. The end result is better environmental performance and profitability.

In this field we find the use of aluminum mainly in the manufacture of microchips (although the base of these is made of silicon). They have numerous applications, such as in the manufacture of sensors (thermal, movement, electrical, among others), amplifiers, batteries, memories and wireless products, robotics and process automation. The main characteristic that supports this use is its high electrical conductivity. Today there is a worldwide trend to give new use to aluminum for its versatility with attractive properties, non-toxic, non-flammable, non-magnetic, non-sparking and non-oxidizing.

Aluminum and electronics fit into compact discs, frame fronts and heat sinks for computers, printers, televisions, videos and electronic equipment. The built-in functions in the aluminum profiles reduce the number of components and simplify assembly, together with an attractive finish and optimum thermal conductivity.
